Health Career Exploration Day

Health Career Exploration Day allows rural high school students to gain a better understanding of a career in health care within their community. Activities include job shadows, tours, public health education and interprofessional competencies.


Students that attend the event stated that they have a better understanding of what a career in health care is like and their community's health care resources. Students also gained a better understanding of public health and how it fits in with overall health care delivery.


Limited number of students are accepted per day, and it is $15.00 fee for accepted students. Scholarships are available based on financial need. Lunch will be provided.

Freshmen to seniors from Edgerton, Evansville, Clinton, Craig, Milton, Parkview, Rock River Charter, and Parker High Schools are eligible to attend.

What I enjoyed most about the event was the tour of the hospital and seeing all of the different jobs and the opportunities to job shadow.

I saw new career choices that I didn’t know existed.

I loved being able to go behind the scenes

I enjoyed hearing the different perspectives of various professionals.

This trip has definitely clarified that I would like to work in the medical field. Thank you for this opportunity.
